What does the machine do?
AccurioLabel 230 is the successor of the award winning AccurioLabel 190, with over 500 AccurioLabel installations worldwide.
The AL230 is ideal for professional label print providers, who face product limitation for short run labels. It would complement their existing conventional machinery by allowing them flexibly accept short run jobs that are more profitable. AL230 handles almost all substrate types that are common with the label industry, it’s a great value for money, easy setup and simple operation. It’s also a tool for commercial and digital printers to add a new dimension into their existing business to tap a new market segment, and shift volumes from conventional presses to digital or balance jobs from other digital presses. It reduces run lengths and delivery times, allows personalisation and versioning, and production of on-demand print runs.
AL230 offers great productivity, image quality and ease of use, helping you diversify into new markets and use in conjunction with existing analogue machines.

When was it launched and what market is it aimed at?
AccurioLabel 230 was launched at Label Expo in September 2019. Konica Minolta’s digital label press is benefitting customers in terms of productivity, flexibility and stability as it continues to accelerate its presence within digital label market.
While the model from the outside looks identical to its predecessor, AccurioLabel 190, the new 4-colour AL230 has important enhancements including a significant speed increase, improved productivity, an option for overprinting, with no warm-up required, less waste and more accurate print registration and near line finishing. A flexo station for printing white inline for the first time will also be made available.
AL230 has been built on the Konica Minolta highly acclaimed AccurioPress engine technology well known for its exceptional print quality and substrate compatibility. It is targeted at small- and mid-range segments and is suitable for label printers, print providers, brand owners, packaging firms and commercial printers.

How does it work?
Based on AccurioLabel 190, the AL230 is designed on electrophotographic technology using CMYK colours. Since no printing plate is required for the digital printing, data is transferred digitally and there is no analog process involved like plate-making, manual adjustment of colours, print engine, etc. and effective workflow from reception of print files to printing is realised.
In addition, with a wider flexibility in designing and facilitated colour control, reprint of the label that have been printed in the past can be quickly performed.  Scanning control with 3600dpi (main scanning) combined with edge enhancement of texts/thin lines provides text quality close to that of offset. Nominal output resolution is claimed to be 1200x1200dpi.
However, scanning control in the
main scanning direction is performed by splitting each dot into three segments, which results in 3600dpi equivalent. High output resolution, 8bit colour gradation combined with font edge detection and edge enhancement technology developed by Konica Minolta provide the top-level quality in its class for text/thin line reproduction. Edge enhancement can be set to one of five different levels, which helps facilitate the adjustment of line width of tiny text and readability of outlined texts with halftone background. Since edge enhancement is incorporated into the engine, it causes no negative effects on the RIP speed unlike the competitors that perform edge enhancement during RIP processing.

What is the USP of the product?
Speed: The 23.4m/min speed represents a 73% increase as most tack paper and films (including PP and PET) can now be printed at full speed.
Productivity: It can continuously print up to 1,000m without requiring recalibration, as well as the possibility to switch between two different paper widths (from 250 to 330 mm).
Overprinting: Adding this option allows the AL230 to print seamless on media pre-printed by conventional printing. For example, printing on a white background.
No warm-up/less waste: The time taken between jobs has been eliminated, thanks to improved idling status of the fusing unit.
Enhanced print registration: An in-built speed detector for media feeding also cuts paper wastage. The speed detector on the AL230, recognizes the media feeding speed ensuring highly accurate print registration.
Easy Alignment of paper web has web guides on both unwinder and rewinder for optimal and accurate feeding of the media.
Optional winders: Available with a choice of Brotech or GM Winders.
Flexo station for printing white inline as an option.

How easy is it to use?
Maintenance tasks on the AL230 is simple and can be performed in a short amount of time. Tasks that are time-consuming on analogue machines, such as colour adjustments, are quickly and easily performed on this digital press. Operation is intuitive by following on-screen instructions; no need for extensive user training. Frees operator time and allows them to perform other tasks.

What training and support is on offer?
In the Middle East Konica Minolta offers first line technical support to all partners who are trained either on site in their own country or in our head office in Japan. The countries covered include, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Iran.  All Konica Minolta partners offer operator training to the end user and excellent service response.
