EFI has released the latest version of its Optitex 2D/3D CAD platform, offering a number of enhancements for fashion, apparel and textiles.

EFI said the new version of the software has been designed to give apparel manufacturers the ability to produce small mixed orders on a single roll, better address market trends and offer increased sustainability in fashion design and development.

The features include advanced automation tools including true-to-life fabric simulation, cross-size simulation and multi-colour way, multi-angle rendering.
There are also new tools to simplify complex stitching, improved grading, ease of design for bags and pockets, an expanded library of 150 commonly used fabrics, and an improved user interface.

The new Print and Cut option for complete garment printing on a single roll is said to enable “significant savings” in fabric roll inventory, while an improved nesting algorithm increases fabric utilisation by up to 4%.

“This is a really strong solution. It increases the efficiency of the process by 15% and optimises the nesting,” said EFI Reggiani vice-president and general manager Adele Genoni.
