KBA has secured a partnership with German die-cutting kit specialist Montex-Print Ost to develop a dedicated B1 rotary die-cutter based on KBA’s flagship Rapida 105.
The DC-R105 will be available as a single or double unit die-cutting machine that incorporates Montex’s established magnetic cylinder and toolless die technology.
Both options will have a maximum mechanical speed of 14,000sph and maximum production speed of 12,000sph and be capable of handling substrates from 0.03-0.7mm. The machines will feature KBA’s servo-driven DriveTronic feeder as well as a raft of established technologies from the Rapida 105 platform.
The twin-unit variant, the DC-R105-1-2, is designed for more complex “combination jobs” or special folded-box applications.
“For all those customers who seek to generate additional revenue with flexible finishing of the most varied materials, formats and run lengths, we offer the best price-performance ratio thanks to the simple handling and extremely fast makeready,” said Montex managing director Eberhard Fuchs.
The first machine will be available for demonstration in May, with shipping expected to begin in the autumn.
Montex will handle all direct sales, installation, service and support, but according to a KBA spokesman, in areas where Montex doesn’t have any presence, both companies will explore opportunities in the next few weeks to co-operate with KBA’s established sales and services.
