Agfa is targeting printers wanting to move into wide-format production with the latest addition to its Anapurna range, the M2540 FB.

The entry-level flatbed machine, which offers six-colour output, is also being pitched at businesses taking on UV wide-format technology.

The M2540 FB can print at a top speed of 42m2 an hour on a bed size of 2,540 x 1,540mm. It can handle substrates up to 450mm thick and to a maximum weight of 80kg.

Agfa has designed the new machine with 11 retractable register pins. The manufacturer said this helps accommodate both large and smaller applications such as promotional goods.

Agfa said the latest Anapurna, which completes the range, will appeal to sign-makers and companies producing packaging prototypes and goods such as drinks coasters on a range of rigid substrates.

Paul Adriaensen, PR manager at Agfa Graphics said the M2540FB complements the firm's Anapurna M2050 model, launched at Fespa 2010, which is a hybrid machine for customers switching between roll-to-roll and rigid substrates.

"The M2540FB is designed for printers in the sign and display market that have applications on rigid material specifically," he added.
