De La Rue is talking to other papermakers about a potential joint venture for its banknote paper business.

The security printing giant has already turned to partnerships with other specialists to flex its print capacity, and outsourced the production of more than 500m banknotes in its last year.

Agfa is launching a new stacker for its 2.5m-wide flatbed Jeti Tauro at Drupa.

The device works with the ABF semi-automatic feeder launched at SGIA in September to create a ¾ automation line-up.

The feeder moves up to four boards to the Jeti Tauro, launched along with the Jeti Mira at Fespa in 2015,  for printing in a measured manner, allowing an operator to go fetch more and the stacker automates the other end of the process.

Roland DG has launched a new heavy-duty addition to its VersaUV flatbed line, the VersaUV LEJ-640FT, which features extra inks.

The six-colour printer- CMYK plus white and gloss  is larger than the VersaUV LEF-300, released in January and can print on flexible or rigid substrates or objects up to 150mm in height, - 50mm more than the LEF-300 - and 100kg in weight, the company said.

Durst used Fespa Digital as the launchpad for the world’s first 5m-wide dye-sublimation printer for the seamless production of soft-signage and fabrics.

Senfa inkjet division Decoprint has launched two new backlit substrates after installing a multimillion-euro, 5m-wide coating line to capitilise on the growth of superwide, seamless graphics.

Heidelberg and Fujifilm unveil Primefire 106 B1 inkjet press

Heidelberg has revealed further details about its new B1 sheetfed inkjet press, developed jointly with Fujifilm, which it will show for the first time at Drupa.

Named Primefire 106, the press is primarily aimed at folding carton printers but is also said to be suitable for applications including posters and calendars and will be suitable for customisation, variable data printing and targeted marketing applications.

IncTec to showcase its first LED UV printer at Fespa Digital

InkTec will publicly unveil its first LED UV Printer at Fespa Digital.

The manufacturer said the Jetrix LX5 press builds on the technology, stability, precision and design of existing Jetrix printers but meets market demand for more environmentally friendly and energy efficient printers.

The machine is said to offer 35% lower electricity consumption than a mercury lamp printer, has no warm-up time, creates less heat and has an extended lamp lifetime of up to 20,000 hours.

Brett Martin unveils new extra strong film

Brett Martin has introduced a new strong adhesion film (SAF) to its range of flat polycarbonate sheets that it said is tough enough to endure frequent heavy fabrication.

The SAF was launched late last year and joins existing products such as Marlon FS and Marlon FSX Longlife, used for high-end engineering and heavy fabrication projects.

Inca Digital launches modular Onset X series

Inca Digital has launched the new Inca Onset X series of wide-format flatbed UV inkjet printers. The Onset X series comprises three models: the X1, X2 and X3.

Kodak reports $21m Q3 net loss and revenue decline

Eastman Kodak Company reported a net loss of $21m  and a decline in overall sales in Q3, but remains positive after seeing significant growth in a number of key product lines.

Overall sales were down 21% to $446m in the period to 30th September. Kodak said the decline was in large part due to the adverse impact of currency exchange, as well as expected declines in revenues from legacy consumer inkjet printer cartridge sales.

Canon releases its 1st, 100 ppm colour printer - C10000VP

Canon has added a new top-of-the-range model to its imagePress cut-sheet colour digital printer family that prints at 100ppm.

The imagePress C10000VP ships from October and was seen for the first time in Europe at Canon Expo in Paris.

It is the firm’s first 100ppm colour print engine. The fastest imagePress in the range up until now printed at 80ppm.

The C10000VP is targeted at commercial printers and inplant printing departments. It prints in CMYK at full rated speed on uncoated stock

Pitney Bowes targets short-run printers with AcceleJet

Pitney Bowes has launched the AcceleJet, a new roll to cut-sheet print and finishing colour inkjet system aimed at transactional printers handling short to medium-length runs.

The manufacturer said print and mail firms that generate 4 million to 10 million transactional or direct-mail printing impressions per month can use AcceleJet to form part of an end-to-end white paper factory operation.
