Duplo has launched a new  booklet maker, the 600i Booklet System.  The manufacturer said key markets for the system are high-volume digital and litho production, with commercial printers, education, public and private sector and processing industries being actively targeted.

According to the manufacturer, the  600i is a fully automated stitching, folding and trimming device that uses ultra sonic technology combining the DSC-10/60i Collator Towers and the DBM-600 bookletmaker and trimmer.

It has more than 25 configurations that can combine suction, collators, sheet feeders and slit, cut, crease, squarefold and three-knife trimming operations. The device is a replacement for the 500i Booklet System, which was introduced 12 years ago and has sold more than 2,300 units in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Features of the 600i include A4 landscape format, a capability which was not available on the 500i, easy set-up and full automated precision and an optimised PC controller that enables operators to create and save an unlimited number of jobs for future instant recall.

The device, which has job changeover times of less than a minute, can reach speeds of up to 5,200 bph or 9,000 bph when used with the optional DKT-200 two-knife trimmer, Duplo said.

This knife trimming allows the user to take printed SRA3 or B3 sheets directly from the press and finish the booklet in one operation.

The machine can handle a minimum booklet size of 90x75 mm up to a maximum of 350x254 mm and stock weights of 50-300 gsm.

The 600i is commercially available with immediate effect and will be shown by Duplo at its London Calling 2015 event, which will take place from 3-4 November. Pricing for the device will start from $118,514 depending on the configuration.
