Doha, Qatar based commercial printer, Al Zazeera printing press has gone for update in binding department. Printer has invested in Polar 115X high-speed cutter and Heidelberg Stahl folding machine, KH78-4KLL with total spend of about $151,000.

Talking to PrintWeek MEA, director, Jacob Kannath said: "Our volumes are going up and we needed to upgrade our binding line. Also we are producing high quality jobs like coffee table books etc where we need precise cutting. We are concerned about quality because we are working with many advertising agencies."

Kannath said that they wanted to go for durable and long-term investment. "The machines are cost effective as they are fast and require less labor," he said.

The Stahlfolder has air stream table for precise sheet alignment without roller balls, eliminating the risk of marking. The Polar 115X has cutting accuracy of 1/100 mm and claims long lifespan as a result of the stability of the one-piece machine frame.

The printing press is expanding its existing 2,000 sqm facility by new 1,500 sqm in nearby building. Kannath said that they will be going for new machines and a five colour press by end this year. The company is established 3 years ago and employees 110 people.
