Flexofit GmbH held a seminar in Kampala, Uganda on 13 June where representatives from Esko, Chespa, Renzmann, Nilpeter, Gama and Koenig & Bauer presented latest industry news and developments in printing and packaging.

The presentations covered topics such as prepress, plate-making, printing devices and facilities, as well as techniques and water-based solutions in addition to local challenges and changes.
In the last 20 years, Uganda saw an yearly economic growth of 5%-10%. Recently, printing machines were installed in the country leading to a better understanding of printing processes and improved quality of printing. To improve this further and establish a stronger industry, local firms have planned  to set up a specialized education institution for printing technologies, with the support of Flexographic Technical Association.

Hans-Peter Hormann, general manager of Flexofit said, “The printing industry in Uganda is getting stronger and we believe the set-up of an internationally-recognized school will push the development of the local industry.”

The fifth Flexofit Kenya seminar was held on 18 June in Nairobi. “The Flexofit seminars offer a great opportunity for us to partake in the international printing scene and experience latest developments firsthand,” said Godfrey Otieno Adede, printing specialist.
