Asia Pulp & Paper hosted their customer summit at Sheraton Creek Hotel, Dubai on March 18th. More than a hundred paper and packaging converters, distributors and retailers gathered at the event. The event was graced by Ridwan Hassan, the Indonesian consul general in Dubai, celebrated the long relationship APP has had with its customers in the Middle East and Africa which stretches back to late 80’s, when APP first commenced operations in the region.

Customers travelled from countries across the Gulf Cooperation Council, Levant and Africa to attend this first ever customer summit. In his opening address, Sandeep Raina, export sales head for Middle East and Africa at APP shared his views on the global paper and board industry. He stressed the importance of APP’s commitment towards sustainability by highlighting the Forest Conservation Policy statistics based on the Sustainability Roadmap vision 2020.
Over the years, the packaging and tissue as a product showed better growth whilst compared to printing & writing paper and newsprint, which is at its worst. Market research has also indicated that emerging markets such as China, rest of Asia and Latin America would show positive growth in the next decade.

Concluding his speech, Raina reiterated the importance of Middle East region, not just for APP’s presence but also for its long term customers.
Mr. Anil Sharma, Head of New Product Development at APP, also took to the stage to speak about the innovative new products being introduced to the MEA market and discussed the innovative applications for consumers. Attendees were quite taken in by Foopak Baking Paper and Straw Paper board developed by APP.

The event closed on a high note with an exquisite dinner at the Vivaldi by Alfredo, where the attendees networked amid beautiful views of the Dubai Creek and skyline.
