The year had its own ups and downs due to the trends in global market. As long as readers are there print industry will evolve. Finally, everyone is hoping to have a big boost from EXPO 2020 and with the UAE governments initiative we are hoping to have an excellent 2019 in terms of prosperous business. 

As a short brief, PrintWeek MEA would like to give some of the local happenings of 2018 and they are:

  • SGI Dubai 2018 had nearly 330 international and regional exhibitors on their 21st edition.
  • Abu Dhabi Publishing Forum started on January 30 
  • Giffin hosted an open house event on the same stretch of SGI. Also, hosted an open house event for KSA customers in March
  • OKI Europe appoints Abdallah Obeidat as a new sales director. Natalie Sweis appointed to the role of regional marketing manager for Middle East, Turkey and Africa Region 
  • The first edition of Gulf Print & Pack Summit happened for two days in Dubai
  • Konica Minolta hosted annual ME distributors Conference in Dubai. Also, they have announced its first optimized print services road shows, which was spread across the GCC region covering Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and UAE between May 2017 to April 2018. In addition, they organised a two-day sales workshop in UAE. Konica Minolta introduces MGI JETvarnish 3DS in Emirate on October. Konica Minolta awards Middle East best performers in Japan 
  • Zabeel Printing Press LLC, Dubai, invests in more than 10 machines to round off their investment plan
  • Mepco Gulf with Mondi hosted a conference on the 28th of February to introduce the rebranding of Color Copy and IQ and the design paper PERGRAPHICA 
  • Paperworld Middle East, the 8th edition welcomed 7,004 visitors from more than 90 countries in March.
  • Roger Nicodeme got additional responsibility in Heidelberg Gulf region after the shift of Mazen El Tibi in March. 
  • Canon ventured in e-commerce platform. Canon Middle East hosted the Service Partners’ Forum 2018 and launches direct operations in Saudi Arabia. Canon Middle East adds one more distribution deal in Jordan
  • HP’s new Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud (ACF) Programme. HP Collaborates with Abu Dhabi’s Danat Al Emarat Hospital. Again, they participated in multiple events like Hotel Show and GiTeX Technology. Narayanan Venkataraman appointed as managing director for HP Saudi Arabia. HP commits to educate 100,000 across Africa in the next three years.
  • The 13th edition of WAN-IFRA Middle East Conference was held on Dubai 
  • Grapholine Trading LLC  along with Hybrid Software conducted workflow seminar on Cloud Workflow and PackZ Software on April 23rd.
  • Jacky’s organized an one day technical and production workshop on 2nd May at Canon’s Sheikh Zayed Road showroom. 
  • Masonlite gets the dealership for CANON Océ COLORADO 1640 Printer
  • Xerox unveils Global Partner Program in United Arab Emirates. Xerox Emirates introduces the Iridesse Digital Press in Dubai on September. Followed by introduction in Jeddah 
  • Dubai Economy Business Protection seminar happened on July and was supported by PrintWeek MEA
  • Jumbo Group launches Jumbo 3D Manufacturing LLC and 3D Application Development Center on October. 
  • Papers Worldwide revamps logo and business strategy
  • Neenah announces strategic distribution partnership with Sona Commercial LLC 
  • Paper Arabia’s 10th edition ends with positive sign after making it to Biennial event
  • Dynagraph opens a new branch in Kuwait
  • Flexofit GmbH hosted seminars in Uganda and South Africa
