Director of sales, Epson Middle East, Jason Whiley in an interview with PrintWeek MEA said: “Epson will continue to develop, solutions across several market segments, although one very interesting area developing is the digital textile printing market. This market is expected to grow at an annual rate of approximately 25% (annual growth rate till 2019 - source WTiN Intelligence). This is a new segment within the Middle East which requires specialist knowledge and education to move existing customers from the conventional way of textile production to digital dye sublimation. Epson is in a key position to support this transition, as our textile solutions are designed under one roof by industry leading engineers.”
Whiley has recently joined the MiddleEast team.  Expressing his opinion about the Middle East region, Whiley said: “We have significant plans for the region, which will include increasing local resource, expansion of our partner network and increasing our services offering. These are all areas of focus within this fiscal year, which will serve as the basis of our longer term regional expansion plan. In terms of business, Epson continues to invest in new product and solutions which will provide significant business opportunities through-out the Middle East, across different market segments and geographies. These include the development of the textile market in Egypt and UAE, Digital labels for UAE and Saudi, and Signage across the entire region. These are all in addition to maintaining our professional photo and fine-art markets. Our target is to be the number one brand within each of these market segments.”
Epson has been investing in new technologies as well.  Commenting on this Whiley said: “We are most excited about our new PrecisionCore printhead technology. It is the result of the largest research and development investment in Epson’s history, merging the company’s expertise in MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) fabrication with advances in materials science. In addition to the speed, quality, reliability, ink and media flexibility; precision-core is a scalable technology suited for products ranging from industrial systems such as large-scale label presses to desktop printers. Its modularity allows PrecisionCore print chips to be arrayed in both moving serial printhead and fixed linehead configurations.”
