Other: Xeikon launches eco-friendly dry toners for packaging, labelling
Xeikon has launched 2 types of dry toners for the packaging and labelling markets; the industrial version (QA-I) for industrial printing and the productivity version (QA-P) for document printing.
Specifically developed for the packaging and labelling market, the QA-I toner claims advances in light fastness, food safety and ecological benefits. By optimising the toner pigments, the toner obtained FDA approval for direct dry food contact for all the standard CMYK process colours and an FDA approval for indirect food contact for all QA-I toners, inclusive the of-the-shelf available spot colours (orange, green, red, blue, extra magenta, clear and white).
Dry toner digital printing is known for its eco-friendliness compared to traditional offset technologies - no VOC emission, less energy and less waste.
"The QA-I toner broadens the scope in direct dry food contact application. The vastly improved light fastness was also a key factor. Labels play a key role in delivering shelf impact and it's important that they don't fade and remain in perfect colour strength for their whole shelf life, another important demand from this market," said Sabine Feifel, managing director of Germany based Ero-Etikett printing company who invested in the Xeikon 3300 twelve months ago.
The dry toner technology used in the QA-toners is fully compatible with the increasing demand for global reductions of VOC emissions, and existing deinking and recycling installations said the manufacturer in a statement.
