Qatar based publisher, Gulf Publishing & Printing Company (GPCC) has shifted to new premises in the Commercial Printing Press Complex inaugurated at the beginning of this year in Doha's industrial zone.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the deputy prime minister and minister of energy and industry Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah inaugurated the state-of-the-art complex in the presence of ministers, diplomats, GPPC board directors and invited guests.
The publishing house established in 1978 has been printing two leading newspapers in Qatar, the English daily newspaper Gulf Times and the Arabic newspaper Arrayah.
Located in the industrial area, off street number 2, the multi-storey complex was designed by Germany-based Eurographica while the detailed design was provided by Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB). The complex houses the latest equipment for both newspaper and commercial printing. GPPC officials gave the total cost of the project as QR300mn. Among the modern technologies used are heat transferring systems to keep the machines cool so that they can operate 24 hours a day and an anti-pollution system which throws out the polluted air.
GPPC general manager Mohamed Allam said: "It is from this very place that we set out to change the course of media in Qatar three decades ago. Today, we are heralding a dynamic new era in the history of printing from the same area."
