Other: Graphic Crafts introduces 'profit enhancing' machine to digital printers

Dubai based distributor, Graphic Crafts has launched a new 'low-cost, profit enhancing product' from UK manufacturer, Caslon.

Talking to PrintWeek MEA, director, Nipam Kotwal said: "We have launched foil fusing machine targeting the digital printers. It is a process where foil is bonded to a toner image area that was created using either a laser printer or a copy machine. The main advantage is that it does not require any type of die. Gold, silver, metallic colours, flat and gloss pigment colour foils can be used.

" There is no make-ready or other special skills required to produce foil fusing. Operators are only required to set the appropriate speed and temperature for the type of foil and paper being run. It can also do a therm-o-fusing in which a sheet that has been imprinted with toner is run through a foil fuser with a clear Mylar film instead of foil. It improves the durability of the image on the sheet. It smooths out the toner density across the image area and it changes the surface finish of the toner image to a spot varnish finish. The foil will only adhere to the toner image area and will not transfer to the offset ink.

"One foil roll is 30cm wide by 150m. One A4 full sheet of foil would cost only 65 fils. The price of the machine FT-10 starts with AED15,000 and will be available in ME and India" he said.
